O grande Vizinho / The Big Neighbor
Le livre
"In 1951, Carlos Drummond de Andrade published the book Claro Enigma. In one of his best known poems, A Máquina do Mundo, he describes the emergence of a huge, almost sentient institution through the ravings of an evening wanderer. Said institution has shown itself capable of presenting humankind with an answer to its every longing, resources, riches - of a material nature. The wanderer's alter ego describes the road as "rocky" and it is no wonder, as he sees the looming threat, or merely the suggestion that one should accept the world as it is being built. Everything is a metaphor. Sophisticated words to talk about life. The images Rodrigo Zeferino introduces in his new series of photographs place us in front of the Zone, the center of the restricted universe we've entered while trying to understand the artist's motivations as his focus is drawn to that which his neighbors see as nothing but a way to make their living. A gigantic, luminous machine in perpetual motion digests all the ore that is brought on "a monster, five-engine train - the world's largest train, take note". Its lights, sounds, steams can be felt all around. What is the limit between the machine and the world?" Pedro DavidPremio Foto em Pauta 2019
