Paris 2024 rassemble une série de photographies de monuments historiques en cours de restauration. Recouverts de bâches imprimées — affichant soit des publicités monumentales, soit des reproductions photographiques des façades elles-mêmes —, ces bâtiments disparaissent temporairement sous une version fabriquée de la réalité. Ces trompe-l’œil urbains forment un décor éphémère qui dissimule les travaux de construction et les transformations de la ville. Les photographies jouent avec cette ambiguïté, entre la pierre taillée et la bâche en polyvinyle. Elles retracent l’histoire de Paris, des grands travaux d’Haussmann au projet Grand Paris d’aujourd’hui, et révèlent un système urbain en constante évolution, exposant à travers ces images les mécanismes invisibles qui façonnent la ville.. . Paris 2024 brings together a series of photographs of historic monuments undergoing restoration. Covered with printed tarpaulins — displaying either monumental advertisements or photographic reproductions of the façades themselves — these buildings temporarily vanish beneath a fabricated version of reality. These urban trompe-l’œils form an ephemeral stage set that conceals the city’s construction work and transformations. The photographs play with this ambiguity, between cut stone and polyvinyl sheeting. They recount the history of Paris, from Haussmann’s grand renovations to today’s Grand Paris project, and reveal an urban system in constant flux — exposing, through these images, the invisible mechanisms that shape the city.
