Initialement prises en noir et blanc, ces images ont été rephotographiées et rééclairées par Andujar en 1989, révélant de nouveaux angles et des distorsions — transformant ainsi leur sens et leur urgence pour ce moment précis et pour les années qui ont suivi.. . Parallèlement à son travail artistique, Andujar a cofondé en 1978 la Commission Pro-Yanomami avec le leader yanomami Davi Kopenawa, un engagement de quatorze ans qui a conduit à la démarcation du Territoire Yanomami en 1992. Pourtant, la lutte continue : l’exploitation minière illégale et les violences de l’État persistent. Ce livre témoigne du destin d’un peuple dont l’avenir a été continuellement menacé et dont la survie demeure une résistance farouche et permanente.. .
