Conçu par Wolfgang Tillmans et publié en association avec les expositions "Rebuilding the Future", à l'IMMA, Dublin et "Today Is The First Day", au WIELS, Bruxelles, ce livre d'artiste richement illustré explore les derniers développements de l'œuvre de Tillmans au cours des trois dernières années. "Today Is The First Day" englobe l'approche multiforme de l'artiste en matière de création d'images, de vidéo, de performance, de musique et d'activités politiques, présentant des textes nouvellement commandés à des contributeurs, notamment la romancière Olivia Laing, l'historien Brian Dillon, la conservatrice Catherine Wood et le géologue David Chew, chacun éclairant un aspect différent du travail de Tillmans. Le livre comprend plus de 30 pages présentant sa scénographie pour la production de "War Requiem" à l'Opéra national anglais, des portraits récents et des vues d'installation détaillées qui permettent de voir en profondeur les pratiques d'installation de Tillmans dans des lieux aussi éloignés que Kinshasa et Goslar, Hong Kong et Johannesburg.
