Les Temps modernes est l’aboutissement de près de quarante années de travail mené par Pierre de Vallombreuse auprès du peuple Tau’t Batu, sur l’île de Palawan, aux Philippines. Depuis les années 1980, le photographe accompagne cette communauté autochtone dans la durée, observant les transformations profondes de leur mode de vie, de leur environnement et de leur rapport au monde. À travers une photographie immersive et respectueuse, Vallombreuse témoigne d’un équilibre fragile entre traditions ancestrales et pressions contemporaines. Les images révèlent un territoire en mutation, où la forêt, la terre, les gestes quotidiens et les corps portent les traces d’un monde confronté à des changements irréversibles : déforestation, exploitation des ressources, bouleversements économiques et sociaux.. . . . Modern Times is the culmination of nearly forty years of work by Pierre de Vallombreuse among the Tau’t Batu people on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Since the 1980s, the photographer has accompanied this indigenous community over the long term, observing the profound transformations in their way of life, their environment, and their relationship to the world. Through immersive and respectful photography, Vallombreuse bears witness to a fragile balance between ancestral traditions and contemporary pressures.
